I've said elsewhere the he an ATheist represent a cross-section of the GOP. ATheist is the hard-core base while Heywood is the "I'm an independent, not a Republican, and both sides both sides both sides both sides both sides" pseudo-centrist who runs cover for Republicans like ATheist. It's a curious symbiotic relationship. Neither could exist without the other.
