Imagine a scenario where 99% are damn stupid and 1% really smart. In that case, 99% are stupider than average.

True.. true.... And here's an example of such a skewed distribution... the Boltzmann distribution:

However, most statistics assume a gaussian distribution which presents the same number of elements at either side of the average value... and this average value is also the most probable.
Which distribution best represents the human IQ level?...hmmm google...
