I found the article interesting. With all the discussions on free will and awareness, this is, perhaps, the basic building block of those functions.
There are some really fascinating documentaries on plants reacting to their environment and 'calling for help', 'stealing', 'killing', etc.. Even 'nepotism'.
Apparently there seems to be no audience for this information. Like most things, "In the eye of the beholder".
