This is a good example how religion can limit someone's life. This young lady can't share any secrets with male friends, read a romance novel or just think a dirty thought without feeling guilty.
In Hitchen's book he quite aptly describes this God character as a "celestial North Korea" even to the point of convicting you of a "thought crime"
It could falsely make one wonder if Orwell modeled "Big Brother" after the God character. God certainly should be all seeing and if you call him "all powerful" then you cant say he cant read your thoughts because that negates the "all" part of "all powerful" which would limit his powers.
The natural morality we have is not denying our thoughts but having the maturity on our own without being told to not act on things we know could harm someone else. But it is sick to use comic book morality to control biological urges and thoughts of natural desires. It only becomes immoral in reality when what you act on is not an act of consent.
