Oh, it was scapegoating carried to the ultimate level. In this case, words actually became weapons. That's why I always get weary when I look at the populist rightwing parties cropping up all over Europe.
And as for the ones actually carrying the slaughter out, the Milgram experiment gives a pretty good answer to that.
Yeah that was what I meant: scapegoating carried to the extreme. Every society have its criminals, it's easy to take the worst from a group and depict the whole group as bad.
And being racist against Germans just because they had Hitler is the same lame way of reasoning. Germany has probably the biggest antifa movement of all Europe, then why should all Germans be depicted as Nazis?
Maybe you insult a German because of Nazism, and then find out that he is an anti-fascist. It's the same principle when they accuse all Arabs of being terrorists, or all blacks to be thieves and murderers in America.
