I have to agree with minimalist in this case.
Steele was elected shortly after Obama's win to the Presidency. Back then, Steele (and Palin) were the party heroes that they had to talk about on every FOX news broadcast regardless of what either of them actually say or do.
Nowadays, Palin is only popular with the anti-intellectuals and anarchists and not one republican I know of bothers with Steele anymore. Partly because he dares speak against the Jesus Christ of the holy republican/conservative trinity (with Reagan as god and FOX news as the holy ghost) of Rush Limbaugh and have his own independant thoughts about the direction of the party as a whole.
I mean, it just smells of "hey look, we're seriously not racist - we can vote the dark-skinned folk to office too!" And now that he's there, they don't even pay attention to him at all. Nowadays, it's sister Sarah and the republican grease monkeys of the house and senate.
Especially that dumbass Boenher.
