It's saying to befriend oppressors who are treating you unjustly makes a person himself unjust..this has nothing to do with allegiance...or allowing you to kill those who befriend them but don't fight you. Islam allowed allegiance with those very people who did fight them...it made treaties and told them not to fight them as long as they stay true to their treaties.
Also this was specifically to the Muslims, telling the Muslims whoever befriends them after facing all this injustice from them is unjust. How does that translate to fighting all allies and friends of those who fight them?
