You sure about that? The sketch wasn't a standalone one; it formed part of an entire collection put together by the VT department, lots of out-takes and bloopers (hence the 'traditional' response to fluffs and gaffes: "Merry Christmas, VT!") combined with specially shot material. Plenty of T&A and more swearing than a vicars' convention. The TV schedules, then as now, are prepared well in advance. If their private staff entertainment was broadcast, it wouldn't be by mistake and there would definitely be complaints, not to mention rolling heads.
