Mralstoner's explosion aside, the events in France is a call to arms; in this case arms being defined as honing our ideas in the perpetual war again fundamentalism. Concentration camps, walls like Berlin and Jerusalem, and military wars on ideas have proven not to work. They only perpetual hostility and continual Bronze age vendettas, and in dealing with fundamentalist's minds, it is nothing more than a vendetta on steroids.
Of course Islamic fundamentalism is a frightening proposition, and violent acts such as yesterdays need to be met with an appropriate response. I'm not opposed to killing them and dumping their remains in the ocean much like the US did with Bin Laden, it's the ultimate fuck you to their silly believes.
What scares me more than the Muslim situation is Christian Fundamentalists in the United States, because if they ever get hold of power, they will have the means to propagate Armageddon.
It is the duty of the Secular community to hamstring the fundamentalists at every opportunity. Right now the situation can still be handled by ridicule and showing the silent majority how retarded the religious right is/can be.
The good news is with each passing generation the number of nonbelievers grows, proving that evolution will blow away the stench of religion. If we have the courage to continually hold up the mirror and show how silly fundamentalists look, they will be further marginalized.

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
Epicurus
