Right, that's about my take on it. The Vatican shitty-state could only hope to lobby real powers to avenge the loss of the Dear Leader, but that would be a tough sell and wouldn't happen unless an attack was in those real powers' interests.
As several have pointed out, the Catholic Church has its share of detractors who wouldn't mind seeing the vile old criminal enterprise's nose bloodied.
