Contradiction with acknowledged reality only presents a problem if one has scruples and feel uncomfortable with ad hoc explanations.
Any guidance given to evolution might have been divine, but was appearently not inspired enough to give self-important monkey's in funny hats scruples and discomfort with ad hoc explanations.
