It has everything to do with trust. Would you trust a man who, 9 times out of 10, showed that he was delusional and prone to hallucination if he said he had seen a flying purple elephant? Similarly, would you trust a species out of whom 5 billion of 6 billion claimed they had had experiences with God on anything at all? (Assuming, of course, that the claim that God is real is not true and can be proven as such.)

Good luck with the girl, though, dude!

If someone claimed to see a flying purple elephant regardless of his mental condition, I'd still need evidence. Doesn't matte who they are, it's the evidence I want. So whether it's someone very bright or thick as a wall, I'll still need that all important evidence to support the claim. Claim and support it. If you claim and fail to support it, it will be rejected. Simple really mate. If I said that there was purple bunnies below the moon surface, would you not require me to prove it?

Oh and thanks, she is beautiful. She keeps flirting with me and I'm trying to get a little closer. Hopefully I will. Wink She is online right now. She sure does make my heart go nuts! Big Grin
I don't think it matters who or how many people believe in something. It's a matter of - can they support their claims?
If I were to claim something, you would expect me to at least support it with something right? Well same thing. Theists claim there is some god up there and I'm asking for some evidence to support that. That isn't asking too much now is it?
Sheer numbers of those who believe is no where near enough to convince me of a god. Because it's not evidence.

Anyway, update, I might just meet up with her on tuesday. Might!
Seems to be going well thus far but she is extremely shy and so I better take it slow. Smile
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
