I watched the same video I think. I came away with a different perspective, he seemed to be saying that there's no need to put yourself in more danger than is necessary; about being realistic regarding danger. Just being sensible.

But he engages in irrationality in many ways. The problem is that rape comes from someone you know, someone you don't expect or predict to be a rapist. Getting raped is not (like he says) getting in a car with a stranger voluntarily - It's unpredictable and unexpected, it's not that preventable. He also does another terrible thing - He equates rapists with the serial rapists that rape and murder 50+ women - This is bad because most rapists are not psychopaths, they are men like you and me, probably gentlemen, who think raping is perfectly fine. When he talks about body language it is a flaw because rapists usually don't care for body signs, for them any body sign is a sing of "come fuck me" even if it isn't. Most rapists don't have traumas or mental problems, they are ordinary men that come from all background, race and religion. Preventing rape is difficult in this context. The critique of "teach men not to rape" is not to say you can't use self defense, it is a way of saying that we are able to control ourselves and are not potential rapists

In my opinion, teaching women how to not get raped is offensive to us men because it means we aren't able to control ourselves from raping. I have raped 0 people in my life because I was taught not to rape. There's no reason a better education cannot work - If you look at Islam and middle east, men are not taught that raping is wrong, so they rape more often because they think it's ok to rape, even with women wearing burqas. Most rapes are not preventable because (1) There's no way to tell who's a rapist (2) Unlike theft, there's no specific areas in cities where rape happens more (3) The only way to prevent rape would be to not get out of the house at all, which seems pointless and dehumanizing.
