There is a such thing as Jewish religion --- but there is also a such thing as Jewish culture and society that, while related to the religion, is not synonymous to it. It includes to many persons, not all of whom follow the religion. It exists and is quite real.
As for Jewish ethnicity -- that is a real thing too. Once a doctor mentioned my Jewishness on my medical profile. I asked her why it is relevant ---- and she gave a very detailed answer -- that boiled down to the fact that Jewish ethnicity is a very real thing - and as with any ethnicity, has it's generic conditions and quirks -- and is well enough documented that care providers need to be aware of it. It to is related to Jewish society and culture, and by that proxy to the religion as well -- but it is synonymous to neither.
Now, I know that there is a good chance that *someone* will employ the Slippery Slope proxy of the False Dilemma fallacy to bolster a Straw Man against what I am saying. Let's face it, too many people view this thread for me to bet against it. But that possibility is hereby anticipated.
