It's taboo in my family to watch bought films without the rest of the family. Even if that film belongs to you (Just as you have to share your own computer even if you don't want to at the time). We have to wait. This gets so ridiculous that one movie I got for my 19th birthday I didn't see until over a year later.
This is also the case with the Shawshank Redemption. I've heard it's a very good film but the rest of my family aren't that bothered, they don't seem to like the sound of it. I nevertheless most probably still have to wait an eternity before I can see it myself.
This is all more annoying now that I know it's not just supposedly a great film, but it has been voted as supposedly the greatest film.
Maybe if I tell them it's been voted (and critiqued) the greatest film of all time they'll be more willing to watch it.
