Even in war re enactments someone has to be the rebels, or Germans or japs. Even when the surviving jews went back to auschwitz the grounds were perserved as a museum a shrine to not only the Jews but to the Germans as well. Why? So the survivors do not attempt to erase one side of the story or the other. That only the truth remain.
It wasn't intended to be a historical reenactment of a previous march. It was not a march to recreate history. No one was dressing up as 60s protesters. It was a peaceful commemoration of march that had ended in violence.
Veterans Day parades don't generally include people representing the opposing side because they aren't historical reenactments. This was essentially the same.

I asked about 60's police officers to take our history back from morally bankrupt people who would dare to say all police in that era beat black people with clubs and tear gas 24/7.
It's morally bankrupt to say all police officers beat black people with clubs? Really? Wrong, I'll grant you, but morally bankrupt?

I have never seen the Civil Rights Movement taught in such a way as to suggest either that there weren't law abiding police officers who did their jobs properly
or that there weren't white people who participated one the side of civil rights.
But that does not change the fact that at this particular bridge peaceful marchers asking for no more than equal rights were met with officers wielding billy clubs.

I don't see the relevance. Why would a thumbs down button offend non-whites? It's theists who would likely get the thumbs down on this forum.
