The man was, quite simply, one of my greatest heroes. Discworld got me into writing, and it was through my writing that I met Luckie. Without Pratchett's wonderful stories, my life would be on a totally different trajectory than it is now. His whole demeanor, of this guy who was skeptical but could still see the magic in mundane things, who clearly loved what he was doing and found success in it anyway, is such an inspiration even now.
I'd always meant to go see him at a public appearance somewhere and thank him for everything his work had meant to me, but I suppose I'll never have that chance now. We've lost one of the greats today.
