Guess what influences theology - politics. War didn't come and go for the Byzantine empire. It came and lasted until 1453. The cursades were in fact part of that war with the political motif of gaining back Byzantine territorry.
That's why history is an actual science and better not left to any wayward yahoo like frontpage magazine with it's very telling sub.
