That seems like an interesting thesis topic. I sometimes ask myself why I enjoy religious discussion. I think it's because religion is all bullshit, most people have strong and contrasting opinions, and all opinions are equally hard to falsify.
Politics has similar properties, but it is more connected to the depressing realities of current events.
Cat forums get boring, because everybody agrees (that cats are great of course Smile )
Science forums or history forums are interesting, but I'm not smart enough to contribute.
So I talk about religion a lot. Smile
