The 'thing' about parallel or other universes is it makes the apparently weird set of physical constants, laws, properties of spacetime, and amount of matter in our universe that makes it compatible with life aren't so 'weird' if there are a multitude of attempts, and only the seemingly weird universes generate a life form capable of working out that the laws, constants, etc. etc. of our universe aren't constrained to just the subset of life compatible values.
What are the odds of dribbling paint randomly from above on a horizontal canvas and perfectly duplicating the Mona Lisa, on the first and only attempt ??
