Well I know what a cat is...if we obtained this "god" thing, can it be killed? If not, why stick it in the box? If it can be killed, then it's both, until we see inside.
I think you mean, let's put this "idea of whether or not God is real" in the box. And if it's actually still there after we die, then we'll know. But this thought experiment is supposed to illustrate the probabilities of the two outcomes, and without knowing something about a "God", the possibilities cannot be equal, sadly, it's far less!
