Jainism is a better brand of simple-minded, misogynistic, moral busy-bodying lunacy? I doubt that very much.
Indian beliefs produced a pretty shitty society, in that regard the puritans were relative amateurs. I'd feel better about it if neither puritan nor indian beliefs had influenced the US. Choosing between the two is, to me, between ketchup or curry on a shit sandwich.
You think that karma, and rating other creatures based on witchcraft, is logical? Jains believe in a hell...of course. Logic! They don't eat tubers....because they're living beings (but for some reason the leafy greens aren't extended the courtesy). Legit. Hey, guess what, that non-violence thing...it has clauses and provisions.
