They'll also point to the statistical anomalies that have had their conditions disappear/subside in a "miraculous" way as proof of their god healing people.
It's a good thing Christians can convince themselves that god works through doctors. Think of the case where a couple was charged with child neglect after they let their 12 year old daughter die of diabetes by praying over her instead of taking her to a doctor. My sister, who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when she was 7, is fortunate that our mother, who is deep into the "Word of Faith" movement, was able to reconcile taking her to the doctor and faith.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
