Personally, I think their attacks are due to their own insecurity on the matter and the ignorance on what is an atheists coupled with disinformation about it (most of it gained from church). How I cope with it? Well, I try to talk with the person to figure out what leads them to such accusations, if the person is reasonable, good, that's a nice debate oportunity, otherwise I just turn my back on them. Its impossible to talk with people with closed minds and open asses. As to my worldview, I find it pretty much like your own, life is a wonderfull experience, albeit sometimes bleak, and I crave to know more about the world
