Yeah, that's a bit of a strange premise, isn't it? I can't speak for the OP, but one possibility would be that you intellectually have come to the conclusion that there is no personal God, but you're still emotionally bound to the trappings of religious belief. Have you ever been in a relationship where you rationally know that it is better to break it off, but you have a hard time going through with it? Of course, the comparison is lacking, because if you rationally stopped believing there is a God, what is there left to emotionally cling to?
