The taste is going to be far too strong if you eat it alone, but I've heard it's nice on toast or with other things.
That said, I still didn't like it.
A lot of times people try things in a bad way, which gives a misleading impression of whatever it is. Imagine how most people would react to Tabasco if they tried it by itself.
My advice is to use it sparingly, at least at first, just the way one would normally start with something like Tabasco, except one will likely want it on different kinds of things.
I can certainly understand not liking Marmite, but I find it interesting and unusual, and I like it occasionally. In fact, this thread is giving me some thoughts about my own jar of Marmite. I may have some in a bit.
