I cannot speak for other gay men, but it has happened to me where I have fallen for straight guys. I do not fall for every straight guy I see, but just the ones I feel a particular connection toward; one could refer to it as the cliche love at first sight. We are quite aware that we have no future prospects with them, but we will sometimes hurt ourselves in the attempt to get closer to the straight guys. It is a vicious disappointment and quite unhealthy.
I know the questions are for me and not the other way around, but why can't you just be gay or bisexual? xD

I believe the Kinsey scale is quite accurate, and I have met men who fit all along the spectrum of sexuality.
Bisexuality to me is simply the sexual attraction and sexual interactions with both sexes.
