It's not that the game isn't enjoyable, it's that the tutorials are very confusing and the game has a steep learning curve at first. I feel like it's missing a proper storyline which helps the user learn the game mechanics.
The tutorials are horrible - where they exist. You'd be hard pressed to make it to the moon and back -on target- if you only went by their tutorials. The new build does have a MP shell set up (though it's still in dev and non-functional) so if they get that knocked out we can MP NP. Specifically, they need an advanced nav tutorial or most folks will just build huge, brute force rockets that crash land with some semblance of control near where you want them (relative to the overal volume of space)...most of the time. The tools are ingame though, you can drop a lander in a 5m square patch on minmus with all burns within an hour of launch. Just gotta know how to work them patch conics with the navball.

(finally, the full release came out today - 4 years in dev)
@Dyre, that mod is flat out awesome if only for the plasma engines - I find that the actual endurance is clunky - but..in career mode, you start with most of the ranger (sans vtol - so you have to rig/nav for splashdowns, takes two chutes to keep sci containers from detaching when they hit the water gotta be under 17ms) and so you can complete any mission to the moon and back with no additional rocketry, fuel, or structure research. I generally dump it all in sci and control (latter because I run mechjeb). Guess I'll have to see whats broken in the patch, but also whats changed with the research tree. I'll be pissed if KAS/KIS doesn;t work...my program relies on skycranes /w winches, eva, and remote sci.
I have been finding alternate ways of getting into space without the need of rockets more or less there is sort of game breaking way of doing it but its fun getting my "butterfly" into space relatively quickly.
