Dunno. Beyond the visible universe, I believe it is fair to assume there is more than what we see. If it's infinite is something currently unknowable.

A region where spacetime curvature becomes infinite, such as the center of a black hole.

Not sure about that definition, but a very high density state, yes. That is what the Big Bang theory proposes.

What caused it to change?

Now you're talking about cause and effect before spacetime as we understand it even exists. Quantum Mechanics suggest that under certain circumstances effect can precede cause. There are competing hypothesis concerning why expansion got started. There are no firm answers.
