The question is why do people assume you can marry a child when we have clear verses like this? This observation 1. Note: I am not making a conclusion just based on this observation. It's just one factor to consider.
There is nothing unclear about it being the age of marriage. However the Muslim scholars almost all believe you can marry a child!
Mohamed married a 6 year old, and consummated the marriage when she was 9.

The only things I care about in the Quran, are any passages that can be used as motivation to do evil. None of the rest of it offers anything that is worth much.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
