All wars are for resources.
Any other reason given is bollocks to convince the idiots to fight and die.

If the person waging the fight is caring for their people ; i.e. nationalists, I have to agree. Most if if not all wars for expansions took place for that certain cause deep within, but there are wars that simply happened for reasons beyond that.

Take the Ummayad invasion of Spain, I can't see what Spain had but the Levant haden't in terms of resources; I'm sure historians can find more examples. Sometimes it's just a certain reason that needs satisfaction as it seems; like satisfying the psychological need people have to appear stronger.

Exactly, though you must fix the mess they made because humans love to blame you for the mistakes of your parents.
