Nah. This guy is batshit crazy. Religion really has nothing to do with it, but since he is a very religious man, his delusions took a religious form. If he weren't so religious, the delusions and voices in his head might very well have been aliens or something else entirely. With or without his religion... this guy was going to hear voices and kill someone.
