The youngest has talked me into doing a 5k with him one year from now. I seriously need to start conditioning my self and I figured it would also be a great way to lose weight in the process. So I'm looking for advice from people who have been completely out of shape prior to running a 5k, what you did as far as dieting, exercise and generally getting yourself in the proper condition to run such a race, because, well everyone knows I don't run. Ever. But this is for a good cause - Breast cancer research and I have a year to train.
Any advice for someone out of shape? I feel like baby steps are the key. I have a membership to Planet Fitness and I can walk a mile on the treadmill.
