So you believe in belief, because it provides psychological benefits. Then God is no different from any other positive illusion that provides similar benefits. Like self-enhancing bias, or the placebo effect. Or belief in benevolent spirits or guardian angels. Sure it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, but that feeling comes from within your own mind, not from any external supernatural entity.
