We are close to creating artificial life (synthetic biology?)
artificial consciousness is waiting for more development in AI, but no reason my it cannot eventualy be done
artificial universe - what does that even mean?
If a god made the universe (that is everything that exists) where was he before he made it?
We are not close to anything, I am a programmer and AI is nothing more than a long chain of human commands -written in programming languages- given to computers, ironically the reality of AI reminds us every single moment that humanity in no more than computers, with imprinted commands already created for them satisfy.
God programmed us, and just like AI exposes that the process of its existence is a mere complex usage of programming languages, reality is also a process but with much, much complex data to process.
I am a programmer, so it's hard to impress me with a talking Tesla car or whatever..it's a mere process, int x = (5500 * 543) * 0 ;
As for your question; you made a mistake: there is no before God
