I buy shampoo because I like having clean hair and not wondering around looking like a homeless person.

Shampoo doesn't make your hair fall out, it just cleans it.

It cleans it of natural oils. These oils protect your hair.

Not for my hair and not for my skin. I'll use soap and deoderant on special occasion if I really want to smell nice but that's it. Hot water is all it takes.

No. All of this.... Just no. Chemical engineers work hard making shampoo and other soap products that are good for our skin and hair. Those "chemicals" are there to make your hair healthier. Maybe a few decades ago they were harmful, but now there are standards they have to meet before they can legally be on the market. A shampoo that made your hair fall out simply wouldn't be allowed to be sold in your local supermarket.

Yeah, shampoo strips some of your natural oils away, your scalp replenishes those oils, as it is pretty much constantly producing them anyway; that's kinda what a scalp does.

As for only using soap and deodorant on special occasions, as well? I think you might want to read up on personal hygiene. Hot water alone is absolutely not enough to get you clean. Dirt, bacteria and fungus are really good at clinging to your skin. Water is just water. It's not going to remove all that crap from your skin. Soap on the other hand will. Those chemical engineers I told you about also work to make soap as effective as possible at getting that crap off your skin. Dirt will cling to soap way better than it will to your skin, it's like magic! Even the most basic soaps will do a fairly good job of drawing dirt away from your skin in a way water never could.

Where do you stand on toothpaste? Does that make your teeth fall out?
