I know brainiac number 1 has plans...he always does. what about a more formalized set of rules for the debate section something as simple as a discussion section under debate.
Here's what I see.
Topic is debated -> discussion thread open for debate discussion civilly (sp?) ->people discuss topic civilly -> 30 days old the debate gets put in archives. that leaves a fully populated thread of discussions with civility rules? Or people can ignore the debate and it's subordinate discussion entirely. Or people can open a Ryleh thread on the debate to express their frustration less civilly?
No need to censor the rest of the forums more, and as long as people don't mind seeing the section on the newest, than I don't see any structural changes that need to be done.
Don't worry. We don't want you to hang out in Ryleh. We're going to try very hard to do this right, whatever it is. Remember, no one has decided a single, solitary thing. It could still be a section, but I hope that doesn't mean people will treat the rest of the forum like a dung heap. We'll see. For now, business as usual. Hopefully, with a few vocal civil cheerleaders practicing what they preach.

I know. I was just highlighting my point.
Quote:That's been scrapped because of the "hysteria," or rather because there was no majority feeling in either direction.
Am I not welcome to my opinion on the matter?
Quote:You may find that we have to make the forum more "civil" on the whole to prevent this kind of bullshit from happening, and that now, you will only be able to call someone an asshole in R'lyeh.
Fair enough.
I don't see where I said you couldn't have an opinion on the matter. I said it was scrapped. Why would I say you couldn't have an opinion? Why would you think I said that?

It's funny how insulting the proponents of the civility section are being while talking about how much they can't stand that anyone opposed it. Fuck's sake. How do any of you not notice the hypocrisy and realize how much it cripples your argument? I've seen people called petty, hysterical, dramatic, etc. all by people who want this place to be more civil.
We're working on something, so stop being assholes for five seconds so we can feel like our time is worth it.
I don't think I've been rude to you, do you?
I was critical of what you said to Vulcan but I thought I was pretty civil about it.
I actually like you. If you were my troubled little sister I'd still hug you on holidays at least. You'd be an upgrade on the one I actually have.
But I still get to have an opinion and I think you were too harsh with him.
No, you haven't. I'm talking about a handful of people who have still managed to be insulting while debating this. It's weird.
I'm not troubled, you donkey! I also like you too. I also also think he frigging started it. If he didn't want me to say anything back, he shouldn't have said anything to begin with. He'll get over it. I already am.
