Isn't your religion the one that is based on grace and not works?
I corrected your cliche for you Tav.
I certainly believe it was the original intention of the people we're talking about was to be like Christ in their actions. This is, after all, how a Christian is defined is it not? In looking at evidence of actions we can judge to a certain extent the motivations for those actions and compare them to the model they claim to follow.
And you are correct; grace is what saves us and not works... which would then allow for mistakes.
You don't claim any affiliation with any other atheist, other than a shared lack of belief. Likewise I claim no affiliation with theists, other than their adherence to the definition. What you're saying is akin to me saying that atheism encompasses something outside adherence to the definition. Which would of course be nonsense.
Why keep repeating this nonsense?
I'm talking about you personally. You assign additional values to the religion, then discount those who don't conform to your assertions.
Here's a definition of Christian from the Cambridge dictionary:
A Christian (pronounced /ˈkrɪs.tʃən/ ( listen), /ˈkrɪs.ti.ən/) is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who they believe is the Messiah (the Christ in Greek-derived terminology) prophesied in the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, and the Son of God.
How would you determine if a person is a "real" Christian or not? If your personal convictions rival theirs?
Would not their actions be largely irrelevant, if they believe in Christ, a savior that dies for the sins of all mankind, and through his grace, will grant you everlasting salvation?
