I'm about 40 hours in, in Chapter 6.
There are three flaws with this game:
The map is garbage.
There's no Collectipedia (a thing from the previous games) to tell you where you found field items.
Character designs range from mediocre to stupid/embarrassing. They had guest celebrity artists design the characters (a different artist for the 22 or so unique characters you can get), so there's no unifying style.
I'm loving the rest of it. There's a lot of heart and charm with the characters, and the gameplay is solid. Combat is very deep, and each encounter feels meaty (assuming you're in the same level range of what you're fighting. And no series does epic scale like Xenoblade. A lot of the areas are simply vast. And imaginative.
Nearly a year ago I was forcing myself to play through Final Fantasy XV because it was a gift. I hated that game. Xenoblade 2 is the palette cleanser I needed.
