Can I just say, and I'm just being honest, this workplace operates in a manner that is contradicting our organization's own symbolic vision. We treat each other and our customers like objects: "be nice to people because it's our job and we want to make sales". From my observations and from research, if we just treated each other as people and genuinely made an effort to be decent and attentive to each other, then we would be making unique connections among ourselves. Social connection is the essence of the human experience and is what makes us unique and successful. Therefore, enhancing connection and humanizing one another will build trust, empowerment, and mutual cooperation throughout the organization. Once we have developed these connections among ourselves, then they will naturally extend to our customers, because we would stand out from every other place who is only in it for the sake of self-interest and social and hierarchical maneuverability. If we just be ourselves and accept the fact that we aren't perfect and embrace failure as an opportunity to grow, then we'll develop a workforce that takes risks and isn't afraid to be creative and exercise initiative. If we want to grow as an organization, then we’ve got to stop being afraid of being human.
