It cools down at night, usually... non? Used to open up the windows if I recall, and doves abound there so it was a kind warning in morning when they'd coo--to shut up shop and pray till sundown! X]
That's why I loved living there and here in Colorado! Now go to Kansas/Florida environment, you need AC, constantly, all day and night plus you have the 100% humidity factor..and no doves. Snakes. Frogs. Spiders!
Sometimes I wonder how our ancestors did it. Or how cruel life must have been for them..
Hey Jesster? Did you know there's such thing as this particular arachnid, in New Mexico?
Thelyphonida is an arachnid order comprising invertebrates commonly known as whip scorpions or vinegaroons (also spelled vinegarroons and vinegarones). They are often called uropygids in the scientific community based on an alternative name for the order, Uropygi (which may then also include the order Schizomida).
Don't worry, theyre harmless :
They'll just spray vinegar atcha!
Someone told me they are a scorpion/spider hybrid. Don't know if it's true. Oddly enough I saw one of these in Kansas! I think they live in more states than wiki knows about..
You'd think it would cool down when night came around, but no. It has been a little bit, but not nearly enough. Night has still been terrible.
Those scorpions are awesome though. I've always known them as whip scorpions. I don't think I've heard of the other name for them before.

I'm pregnant in a Texas summer. Tried shooting a black powder gun this weekend in 100+ heat and had to go in before everyone else. So I'm curious, do you not have AC? Ours doesn't turn off from March till October.
That sounds absolutely horrible...
And as for AC... sort of. It's not working as well as it should be.
I don't believe you. Get over it.
