I don't think it's creepy to text from outside the house. It saves you leaving the car if it's raining. I've done it before in specific situations, for example a woman who had an autistic son and she didn't want him seeing other people around the house, times when I wasn't sure what the exact number house was, times when room mates would be asleep so I didn't want to wake everyone up.
