2:4 then emphasized "And those who believe in that which has been revealed to you and revealed before you..."
The name of God took on many forms, in the past to the present. The revelations were revealed time and time again.
The question arises, how and what basis did they believe? They believe through the name of God, and they perceive due to them holding on to what is from God of that light towards their souls. Through that perception, they believe in the light in the revelations brought down, and their hearts are illuminated through the help of the revelations. The name of God accompanies them so they perceive the truth of God's proofs and signs, and taking the issue seriously their hearts properly reflect over revelations.
Words can only do so much, there needs to be some degree of safeguarding one's soul from dangers, and a stop at the silly approach to religion that people become misguided by.
What is interesting is that 2:4 emphasizes on being sure of the next world, and certain of it "..and regarding the final world, they are sure."
The belief in the next world and certainty is almost a prerequisite to really realizing a book is from God. Although the book has guidance for those who are without certainty of the next world and can lead to certainty in the next world, there is no doubt in it by the name of God a guidance for those who do guard and have these characteristics.
"These are upon a guidance from their Lord..." (2:5)
And it so the Quran begins on what it repeats and emphasizes on the need of guidance from God at all stages. The guidance is not the book alone, but it being coupled with the name of God, "the guided are only guided by the light of your face".
"and these are that are successful". (2:5)
The Quran has a theme of defining success, and here it says regardless of what they may have attained position in this world, these people are truly successful, and the word "these are that are successful" implies the successful are them and they are the successful, anyone failing to attain these characteristics, have failed a big failing.
Why is that? Again, due to the name of God, which they increase in vision and light and power of. These people are the people of distinction in God's vision which is the only vision that matters really when it comes to the value we have earned.
