I hate when rich people pat themselves on the back for this kind of esoteric bullshit. Luxury tiny house? It doesn’t count when you make space for yourself in alternative ways like getting in your fucking car or buying a plane ticket and you’re off to destination B. And C, D, and E...

Try living small when you don’t have money for a dependable car and gas and you can’t afford to eat out.

Yep, at the end of one of those episodes when they do a caption about where they are after picking up their tiny house, the couple was "living in their tiny house, in her sister's back yard, saving for their trip to Paris."  I just betcha they spend the majority of their "at home" time each day "visiting" her sister in HER house.

I watch these shows sometimes, too.  They are fascinating, but I always wonder about how people will actually live in these spaces.  That's a documentary I'd love to see.  My husband and I would be divorced or murder-suicided within a couple of days in a tiny house.  If you're going to have that small of a space, best (in my view) to have an apartment.  

I wonder if the lack of hard hats, gloves, etc., are just for when the show is shooting and that once the scene is done, the protective equipment comes back on.  

I remember when lots of real estate/remodeling shows were pushing open-plan McMansions with cavernous "great rooms" taking up pretty much the entire ground floor, and my thought was always about how much it would cost to heat or cool the space, and also wondering what is so terrible about interior walls.

Yep, I would un-cut the cable cord to watch the "where are they, years later?" show.  I'm betting that the smaller the house, the higher the incidence of divorce.  I'm also convinced that the people who really want to park these on their own land and stay there (and there were some) will have massive outbuildings for their "art" and "music studios" and STORAGE.

I wondered about the lack of safety equipment being for "show" too, but then, other construction shows make a point of showing safe building practices.  They are putting themselves on tape that can be used as proof for OSHA to show that they raised a wall without hard hats, sanded and sawed without mask and safety glasses, etc.

And I love the ones that "had to have" a guest bedroom (translation, another loft where you can't sit up in bed).  If I'm your guest, come second night I'm in a hotel.  And you can come visit me there.

And I forgot to mention that in these tiny houses, the door opens inward.  WTF?  So if you want to leave the door open to let some air in/the dog out/smells out you gotta waste wall space for the friggin door to stay open.  Not to mention, it makes it easier for an intruder to kick the door in when it swings in instead of out.
