The trial is probably the problem. The nature of the crimes is a bit ambiguous. Proving the crimes is problematic. And then there's the Patty Hearst defense. And she's just a poor woman who has to do what the big bad men tell her to do in the fiercely patriarchal ISIS society where no woman can ever be possibly held responsible for the things that she does. I keep thinking that maybe they should just have 'accidents'.
