Probably the only meal today...this evening will be more cake. Pistachio cake that my daughter had made. It's an interesting flavor but super moist and the frosting is good. Probably not a flavor a would seek out on a menu...but cake is cake.
Pistachio cake? Although I love pistachio gelati, it doesn't appeal as nuts for a cake. Would certainly try it if offered but probably wouldn't go to the trouble of making a cake. In terms of cost, pistachios are on par with cashews
Last night I had just about the best Chilli con carne I've ever made. It had been maturing in the fridge over night. Not authentic as it had kidney beans. Also just about the simplest; minced meat, onion, red chilli powder, tomato paste, water. Bunged it in the oven at low head for an hour. Beans; a stock cube a tsp of cumin, pressure cooked for thirty minutes. Had it with two toasted wholemeal muffins.
What a great hubby you have. When I was married, the best I ever had from herself was a mug of instant coffee when I had the flu. I invented a new nick name for her after we had split. Won't risk telling you, I might get banned.
