Well, no. Sometimes mediocre music gets preserved, usually on the playlists of classic rock stations, but the good stuff has no expiry date. I can listen to 1963 Beatles tunes and they still sound fresh to me.
And Bach, Mozart, Beethoven et al. are effectively immortal.
ETA: After reading posts 12 and 13, I have not one but two earworms duelling in my brain. That's the problem with having a phonographic memory: A line or two of song lyrics, and I can actually hear the recording in my head. Even if I don't want to...
