I wasn't aware that the prevailing theory and observations regarding our personalities had anything to do with "essences". Flowery language though, which is always nice. Perhaps even more so when dealing with death, as it's a difficult subject to handle for a great many of us for a great many reasons.
yeah
Flowery language seems to be a necessity around the conversation of death in most any belief structure. Human beings are indeed terrified of their own demise... not as a rule, but as a whole. I certainly don't know what or if anything comes after this life, but I'm also not remotely concerned about it.
I have another theory about your own personal hell/heaven ...
Perhaps at the moment of death, as your brain loses control with all neurons firing and what not ... the sub-conscious sends the messages and you "see the afterlife" that you learned of in your own community/religion/belief structure, AND knowing that you were either a good person or a real asshole, your own guilt or lack thereof will make your final moments in this life either very happy or extremely terrifying. Basically you see the "afterlife" that you feel you deserve and it is merely a creation of your own mind based on the life that you yourself have lived and the information you were taught.
Personal Examples:
My brother-in-laws mom died of cancer at 52. She was a a wonderful human being. As she lay on her death bed, her last words were,
"I can hear them calling my name ... It's so beautiful." This would be a very pleasant final thought as you drifted into oblivion.
on the other hand ...
My wife's uncle died young as well and is reported to have the last words,
"they're gonna kill me" and died with a terrified look in his eye. Coincidentally, he did time for molesting two little girls when he was in his 20s. Perhaps his guilt and his knowledge of heaven and hell is what made his final thought a terrifying reality.
Maybe in some way the very last images that go through your mind are your "eternity" simply because that's the note you finished on.
Just a theory of mine. Maybe your own personal hell deluxe is just your own final delusion ... and heaven just the happy ending of a guilt-free mind.
