It's a pity but you know the palm tree wasn't going too fast. It's amazing any of us make it through our young adulthood.

Trees are amazingly strong.
But then again, cars are increasingly built with crumple zones and other safety features that make cleaving such a vehicle in two quite possible. I wonder what would happen if we took one of those old metal behemoths from the 60's and accelerated it to the same speed as the situation here.
