If there can be said to be a bright side to this horrible and heartbreakingly tragic event, it's that at least the authorities view it as the obscene crime that it is, even if the superstitious among us do not.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

We may have to give credit to the bible that for all the negative ethics in the bible (genocide, slavery etc.), one positive area is that the bible did ban human sacrifice

It's not at all. I'm just saying the bible has terrible morals in many areas but human sacrifice is one area where it actually seems to have had a positive influence.
